Your Instructor

Primarily a film editor, Maia has taught the BA course at AFTRS (one of Australia’s most prestigious film institutions) for the past 5 years. She has worked as editor on factual television, directed music videos & produced short form documentaries. Maia's creative output is consistent, eclectic and ethical. A passionate educator and community leader, she has presented & produced radio, managed events, and developed creative workshops. She is currently building Sydney's first female run sound system.

Make your short film

a film ready for the festival circuit

It’s difficult to overstate what a huge process it is to make your first few short films. Every film finds some way to break you, and whilst we can’t guarantee we can prevent that, we will equip you with a tried and tested model which has taken your instructor’s work from a small south asian island, to some of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.

Your Instructor

Rehan’s films have screened at multiple international festivals, from Jakarta to Dhaka, from LA to London. His latest short DIDI had its World Premiere at the 2020 Academy Award-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival, as a part of the Official Selection, and its International premiere at the 2020 Canadian Screen Award-Qualifying MOSAIC International South Asian Film Festival. His previous short - The Red Mustang - had its World Premiere in competition at the 2018 Montreal World Film Festival and its International Premiere at the 2018 TASVEER South Asian Film Festival in Seattle, the largest showcase of South Asian cinema in the US.

Having opened for such monster acts as Mark Ronson, Hiatus Kaiyote and Tom Thum, he launched his EP : Diasperado with a 40 date tour. Once you've been hit with his ludicrous stage presence, tight beats, sharp lyrics and deep bass lines: it’s safe to say, you’ll be hooked.
